Chapter 7 — MCP & RAG

Registry API & Management

The secured REST API used for server discovery, tool discovery and tool execution, and the management interface built on top of it.

MCP Registry API

The operations most relevant to the platform:

Method Endpoint Purpose
GET /api/servers Retrieves the registered MCP servers.
GET /api/servers/{project_id} Retrieves the MCP servers available for a specific project.
GET /api/servers/{project_id}/servers-details Retrieves the project servers together with their available tools and prompts.
GET /api/servers/{server_id}/server-details Retrieves detailed information for a specific MCP server.
GET /api/servers/availableTools Retrieves tools exposed by active MCP servers.
POST /api/mcp/call Executes a selected MCP tool with the provided input parameters.

Additional Registry operations cover server registration, configuration, connection testing, reloading and tool management. These are used mainly for MCP administration rather than Agent runtime execution.

Authentication

Access to the Registry API is protected with Bearer token authentication. See Security & Persistence .

Management interface

The platform provides an interface for configuring and inspecting the MCP servers available within a project. It communicates with the centralised Registry and exposes the main server and tool management operations. For the selected project, authenticated users see the configured servers together with their connection status, endpoint and number of available tools and prompts.

Operation Description
Register MCP Server Adds a new MCP server and associates it with the current project.
View Server Details Displays server information together with its exposed tools and prompts.
View Tool Details Displays the tool description, input parameters and input schema.
Execute Tool Manual tool execution with specified input parameters, for testing and validation.
Test Connection Verifies connectivity between the Registry and an MCP server.
Reload / Reconnect Server Reconnects to the server and refreshes its tools and prompts.
Update Server Updates the configuration of an existing MCP server.
Delete Server Removes an MCP server configuration.
Configure Authorization Manages the authentication required for secured MCP servers.

The interface centralises MCP configuration, inspection and verification without requiring direct interaction with individual MCP servers or manual REST API calls.
