Chapter 5 — BlockFlow · Node Reference

5.2.5 Logic nodes

Logic nodes

Logic nodes provide decision-making and flow control: conditional branching, variable management, dynamic flow control and graceful error handling.

The Switch node in the BlockFlow designer.

Switch node

Branches the conversation on user input, variables or other conditions — the equivalent of an if/else statement. Multiple conditions can be defined in one node and are evaluated in sequence; the first match determines the branch. A default case ensures the flow never becomes stuck when nothing matches.

Set node

Defines, modifies or updates variables during a conversation — user responses, session data or system parameters. Assignment can be conditional, values may be strings, numbers, booleans or lists, and several variables can be updated in a single node.
